Camellia-IMG_4407-Edit.JPG

The bright red flowers of the Sasanqua Camellia at the Hayward, California, Japanese Garden, on a winter afernoon in January. Native to southern Japan, the Sasanqua Camellia is popular there and elsewhere in part because it blooms in the fall and into winter when other blooming flowers are scarce. It's leaves are used to make tea.
