Cobre is a ghost town in northeastern Nevada built at the junction of railroads where copper, cobre in Spanish, transferred from the line serving the mines to the line that would take it to market. It came into being about 1906, peeked in 1910 with 60 residents and three bars, then dwindled. In 1956 the post office closed, sealing the fate of Cobre, Nevada.
