The unusual and intriguing, not to mention carnivorous, Darlingtonia californica is easily seen from viewing platforms along the Darlingtonia Trail in the Smith River National Recreation Area, part of the Six Rivers National Forest in northern California. About 20 miles east of Crescent City, the trail is a loop of only .2, two-tenths, of a mile long and provides a view of the Darlingtonia bog.
